Shields, The Tailor

In referring to the principal tailoring establishments of the city, consistency demands that prominent mention be made of such an old established and popular concern as that of Shields, the Tailor. The proprietor, Mr. W. R. Shields, is one of the city's most respected old-timers and has been in business for over 23 years. He has the largest and most complete line of suitings in the city and has an extensive and good classed trade. His office and workshop are located at No. 131 West Mountain avenue, where he employs a number of capable assistants. He is agent for the celebrated Armstrong uniform, is affiliated with the Elks and is a representative merchant and loyal citizen.

A. B. Connor

Although only in business in the city for a year, Mr. Connor can justly be described as one of the city's most prominent, prosperous and enterprising merchants. He has extensive premises measuring 60x100 feet, located at Nos. 223-227 Jefferson street, in which he conducts a large and steadily growing trade as a dealer in hay, grain, flour, feed and coal. His store is the largest of its kind in the city, and his stock, of the value of about $4,000, is second to none in either quality and quantity. Mr. Connor hails from Vermont and is a man of sterling business principles and methods, who takes an interest in all things pertaining to the welfare of the city in which his lot is so pleasantly cast.
