The Photograph Files

The Photograph Files include prints from the Historical Collection, Coloradoan Collection, Triangle Review Collection, the Hancock Collection, and the Miller Collection filed by subject and/or place. The Historical Collection consists of over 21,000 negatives and/or prints taken from the 1860s to the present. The bulk of the collection was donated by the Fort Collins Historical Society, with additional donations from other groups and individuals. The Miller Collection consists of over 77,000 negatives dating from 1907 to 1975 which were taken by local photographer, Mark Miller. Many of the negatives in the Miller collection do not have prints and are stored off-site. The Coloradoan Collection consists of approximately 50,000 4x5 and 35mm negatives that were taken for the newspaper during the years 1951-1956 and 1966-1975. The Triangle Review Collection consists of approximately 50,000 prints and 35mm negatives that were taken for the newspaper during the years 1973-1995. As prints of these negatives are made, they are added to the Photograph Files. Additionally, there is a Slide Collection that consists of approximately 12,000 slides donated to the Archive through the years. Approximately 18,000 images scanned from these photograph files and other special collections are in the on-line Photograph Database.

This finding aid does not include an index to biographical photographs. Biographical photographs are filed alphabetically by surname. There is a separate collection of biographical photographs taken by Mark Miller from 1914 to 1970 that includes a bound index of names included in the collection.
