Larimer County Water Ways is a project of the Larimer County Digitization Initiative. The Larimer County Digitization Initiative (LCDI) is a collaborative effort by libraries, museums and public schools in Larimer County, Colorado to promote access to local historical resources through use of the Internet and other media.

The Larimer County Water Ways project has collected, digitized and cataloged over 1200 photos dealing with the impact of water on Larimer County, Colorado from LCDI member collections. Subjects include: Natural Resource, Early Use of Water, Agricultural Use, Municipal Water Use, Transmountain Diversion Projects, Colorado Big Thompson Project, Floods and Droughts, and Recreation. The original photos are owned by various LCDI members and each institution must be contacted directly regarding copyright information. Contact information for an institution can be found through the LCDI homepage.

This project has been funded in part by a sub-grant of the University of Denver's federal Institute of Museum & Library Services "Colorado Digitization Project" grant. Roberta Depp is project director, Tom Vaughan is project coordinator/researcher, Linda Williams is project cataloger, and Rheba Massey, Todd Massey, Carson Block, Peggy Shaughnessy, Bryan Carr, Jackie Smith, Linda Brown-Bryne, Jim Willard, and Lucy Burris provided database development and web design. The Loveland Public Library is fiscal agent for the project and the Fort Collins Public Library hosts the LCDI website.

Members include: Berthoud Public Library, Estes Park Area Historical Museum, Estes Park Public Library, Fort Collins Museum, Little Thompson Valley Pioneer Museum, Loveland Museum/Gallery, Loveland Public Library, Poudre River Public Library District, Poudre School District, Red Feather Lakes Community Library, Red Feather Lakes Historical Society, Rocky Mountain National Park Library, Thompson School District, and the Wellington Public Library. Assistance to the project has been provided by the High Plains Regional Library Service System.




The Water Ways Photograph Database provides 1200 photographs associated with Larimer County water history.
