DescriptionSea Captain William M. Post was born in Connecticut in 1823, going to sea at 13 as a cabin boy. He became master and owner of a brig in 1846. From 1861 to 1864 he was executive officer of a store ship and gunboat in the North Atlantic squadron. He came here in 1870 and bought a farm in Bellvue.
