Volunteer at the Archive

Volunteer at the Library

You can help the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery by assisting with archival projects behind the scenes. Our volunteers are vital resources; they help make our collections accessible to the public for research by helping with filing documents, creating indexes, arranging archival materials, taking inventory of new and expanding collections, scanning images, creating metadata for our database, and much more.

What is required to volunteer at the Archive?

Volunteer at the Archive
  • Attention to detail
  • Knowledge of and interest in Fort Collins history and archives in general
  • Willingness to learn and participate in training
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Archive staff and other volunteers
  • Sense of humor

Computer skills are often helpful, but not always required.

How do I become a volunteer at the Archive?

Please visit the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery's volunteer page to view current volunteer opportunities and fill out an application.

Applicants are interviewed, and if selected for a position, are required to complete a background check. Volunteers sign a Volunteer Agreement clarifying a volunteer commitment to a role and schedule for six months.

We appreciate our volunteer family! Thanks for all you do.
